Way too much fun.

  1. Thanks for a great morning greeting! So what kind of camera magic is it that you've discovered?

  2. Well, the top one is light painting, which I plan to do a bit more of when I can find some interesting light sources, and the bottom is just a 30 second exposure where I had time to run around and have some fun.

  3. Is there a pause option for light painting to make the breaks between the letters? Can you watch on the display while you're doing it?
You must have run fast in the 2nd one to not show up as a blur.

  4. I had a light that I turned on and off between letters. I was actually in front of the camera, so there's no way to see what you've done until the exposure is finished. I got that one right on my second try. Here are some advanced examples: http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/01/painting-with-light.html

As far as the second one goes, you're not in a big hurry, as I had to stay in each spot for a good 10 seconds very still to get it to work.

  5. Oh, and the other trick I used for the light painting to make sure I didn't show up in the picture was to use manual settings that weren't bright enough to capture the scene in a 30 second exposure, but then triggered the flash at the beginning of the scene before I used the other light to paint.
